The Chargé d’affaires of the United States Embassy, W. Patrick Murphy will be hosting a reception at his residence to honor the Teach for Thailand organization. Teach for Thailand, modeled on Teach for America, takes top students from the best Thai universities and places them in underserved Thai schools for one year to teach Thai students. These volunteers delay their careers and gain valuable experience in community service and leadership, making them better prepared for future careers in business and government.
The Chargé would like to invite members of the US-ASEAN Business Council to the reception to meet with the volunteers and hear about their experiences. As Teach for Thailand is in its first year, it is our hope that with the moral support of the business community, more students will choose to volunteer and the organization with thrive to benefit Thai society. Also in attendance will be Wendy Kopp, the founder of Teach for America. Interested parties should RSVP to Nathanael Lynn at lynnnm@state.gov.
