Joseph Y. Yun was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 1, 2013 to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Malaysia.

Mr. Yun was appointed the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, the U.S. Department of State in 2010, Mr. Yun served as Acting Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs until Jiuly 12, 2013. Mr. Yun is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. His overseas assignments have been in South Korea, Thailand, France, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Before joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 1985 Mr. Yun was senior economist for Data Resources, Inc.
