SUMMARY:3rd Planning Call on the 1st 2019 Digital Policy Consultative Forum (DPCF)
DESCRIPTION:The Council is pleased to invite members to join the third planning call for the first Digital Policy Consultative Forum ("DPCF") of 2019\, to be hosted on April 8 alongside the 1st TELSOM-ATRC Leaders' Retreat in Manila\, Philippines from April 8-10\, 2019. During this third call\, we will provide final logistical update\, finalize the priority points for the proposed messaging for the panel sessions (determined from consultation with ASEAN regulators)\, and finalize our list of desired speakers. Please review the updated concept note and provide your recommendations for speakers by COB Friday\, March 15 to Ella Duangkaew (eduangkaew@usasean.org). The purpose of the call will be to finalize our list of proposed speakers so that we can send invitations to them\, and to Government attendees\, the week of March 18. Our invitations will include our tentative list of speakers. A revised concept note with initial speaker recommendations will be circulated with the dial-in details of this call.\n\n\n\nPlease note that speaker recommendations from sponsors will be prioritized. The deadline for sponsorship is also COB Friday\, March 15. Please contact Ella Duangkaew (eduangkaew@usasean.org) for more information\, or if you are interested in sponsorship. \n\n\n\nPlease contact Ella Duangkaew (eduangkaew@usasean.org) with any questions\, or if you have a specific item you would like to raise during the call.\n\n\n\nBackground\n\n\n\nAt the 18th ASEAN US TELSOM Meeting\, the US-ASEAN Business Council ("US-ABC") proposed to continue collaborating with ASEAN to organize the flagship "ASEAN-US Digital Policy Consultative Forum" ("DPCF)\, which serves as a series of roundtable discussions between the private sector and TELSOM-ATRC designed to facilitate in-depth dialogue on priority digital economy issues.\n\n\n\nFor the 2019 DPCF\, the objective of these discussions is to support ASEAN in strengthening its digital data governance\, particularly to support the growth and security of the data ecosystem in ASEAN\, and establish ASEAN as a global leader in digital data governance best practices.\n\n\n\nThe first Forum will be held on April 8 from 1:00-6:30 PM alongside the 1st 2019 TELSOM-ATRC Leaders' Retreat in Manila\, Phillippines. It will serve as a platform for policy makers and stakeholders to exchange views on how to create an enabling environment to attract increased investment in the data ecosystem in ASEAN.
