TPP Update from J. Jayasiri, TPP Chief Negotiator, Malaysia

Malaysia's Chief Negotiator for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, Mr J.Jayasiri, has offered to provide Council members the latest updates on the ongoing TPP negotiations following the recently completed May 19-20 Singapore Ministerial Meeting.  A bio for Mr. Jayasiri can be found below.  An agenda for the event can be found here.

Mr. J. Jayasiri is the Senior Director for Strategy and Monitoring at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI). Throughout his career Mr. Jayasiri has held various diplomatic positions, including Assistant Secretary of International Affairs at the Ministry of Primary Industries and First Secretary/Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia in Geneva. Mr. Jayasiri began his career at MITI in July 1997 as Principal Assistant Director of Multilateral Trade Relations.  He later became Director of APEC and was appointed Malaysia’s Senior   Official   to   APEC.  He went   on   to become Senior Director for Bilateral and Regional Relations and then Senior Director of Multilateral Trade Policy and Negotiations. He is currently the Chief Negotiator for Malaysia in the TPP negotiations.
