Southeast Asian Perspectives on the Intersection of TPP and RCEP

The purpose of the discussion is to create a seminal platform for the countries involved to share public sector perspectives and exchange views with the U.S. private sector on the economic opportunities and potential friction as a result of the dual participation in TPP and RCEP.

We recognize that these Asian and trans-Pacific tracks of negotiations differ in important ways, but they are likely to accelerate economic integration in the region and contribute to the Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP). This discussion is an opportunity for a candid exchange on how TPP and RCEP, in their own ways, can steer regional trade toward the best outcomes for economic growth and development.

The forum would feature the 4 economic counselors from Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Vietnam, who are negotiating parties of both the TPP and RCEP, and 2 U.S. private sector commentators.
