Minister of Youth and Sports
H.E. Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is a Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports and a Member of Parliament representing the Rembau constituency in Negeri Sembilan. He is also Leader of UMNO Youth and the Chairman of Barisan Nasional Youth. He began his political career as Deputy Chief of Malaysia’s leading political party (UMNO)’s youth wing and served as a close personal advisor to the then Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Prior to entering politics, he worked as a journalist, policy aide and investment banker. He has written for many major publications including The Economist, Time and the Wall Street Journal. In 2005, the World Economic Forum in Davos selected him as a Young Global Leader and he was made an Asia 21 Fellow by the Asia Society in 2006. His Excellency was a Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies in 2002. Currently, he serves as the Commander of the 508 AW Regiment in the Malaysian Territorial Army. An avid soccer fan, His Excellency was Vice President of Football Association of Malaysia from 2007 to 2010. He received his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University and Master's degree in Legal and Political Theory from University College London in 1998.
