Energy Trends in Southeast Asia Roundtable

Please join us for the innaugural roundtable in the US-ASEAN Business Council's "Energy Trends in Southeast Asia" roundtable series. Southeast Asia is projected to see a massive increase in energy demand over the next two decades, expanding by two-thirds as a result of demographic changes, a growing middle class, and rapid urbanization. Within half this time--by 2030--ASEAN is expected to be the fourth largest energy consumer in the world. Overall, the International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that US$2.7 trillion in energy investment will be needed up to 2040 to meet rising energy demand.

To keep member companies well-informed of prevailing and shifting trends in Southeast Asia's vital energy sector, the Council will be convening a series of roundtables with policy experts to examine and spur discussion on various aspects of the sector. For the first roundtable in the series, Dr. Amy Searight, Senior Adviser and Director of the Southeast Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), will provide a briefing on current energy dynamics and trends in Southeast Asia. Dr. Searight's bio is available here.
