Every 5 years Indonesians elect their Parliament and President and 2014 will be the 4th national election since the 1998 upheavals that ended the 40+ years of authoritarian government of Indonesia's first two Presidents, Sukarno and Suharto. We are pleased to host one of the foremost chroniclers of Indonesia's recent political transformation, Kevin O' Rourke. A Harvard graduate, Kevin moved to Indonesia in 1993 as a financial analyst and has had a prime perch to observe the events of 1998 and the Reformasi era that followed. Through his books and weekly newsletter, he has greatly added to our knowledge of the cross currents within Indonesia's political environment. Already the looming 2014 elections are having an effect on political and economic decision-making. Who are the likely front runners to succeed the 10 years of President SBY, what economic policies will they follow, is there a dark horse out there?
