Capitol Hill Forum: The Future of US-ASEAN Relations

The ASEAN Economic Community is slated to be achieved by 2015. This integration effort in Southeast Asia is opening a wealth of opportunities for the region and the international community. As such, the region is seeing increasing prominence and recognition as a relevant economic player. What are the implications for the United States? How can the US increase its prominence in the region, and capitalize on these opportunities? What strategies can the US develop to engage the region as a whole as well bilaterally, such as with the developing US relationship with Myanmar?
