Briefing on Timor-Leste's ASEAN Accession

Please join us for an off-the-record briefing with Edmund Sim on Timor-Leste's application to join ASEAN. Timor-Leste has been working with ASEAN for several years to become the Association's 11th member and looks increasingly likely to join within the next few years. Successful accession to ASEAN would connect the  country to Southeast Asia's broader scene, creating new opportunities for commercial, political, and cultural contacts. Mr. Sim, a Partner of Appleton Luff and a Professor at the National University of Singapore Law School, has been an important voice in advancing that accession process. He has kindly offered to brief the Council on Timor-Leste's application status and what would happen when the country joins ASEAN.
