2nd 2019 ASEAN-US Digital Policy Consultative Forum

The Council is pleased to invite members to sponsor the second 2019 ASEAN-US Digital Policy Consultative Forum (“DPCF”), to be held on May 6, 2019 from 1:00 PM-5:00 PM at the Novotel Yangon Max in Yangon, Myanmar.This is a continuation of the ASEAN-US Digital Policy Consultative Forum, which was first launched in 2018, and follows the first 2019 DPCF held on April 8 in Manila, the Philippines. 

The second 2019 DPCF will be held alongside the ASEAN TELSOM-ATRC Joing Working Group Meeting from May 7-9, hosted by Myanmar. It will be the secondof a three-part series held alongside each of the three TELSOM-ATRC meetings of 2019. The DPCF across 2019 will focus on strengthening digital data governance in ASEAN.

The 2nd DPCF in Yangon will focus specifically on how to ensure the security of the data ecosystem in ASEAN, particularly by utilizing proven industry best practices and resources in data and cybersecurity. This Forum will serve as a collaborative platform for policy makers and stakeholders to exchange views on this topic, to ensure that ASEAN has the security to remain an attractve environment for increased investment and establish itself as a global leader in digital data governance. 
 
Around 40 participants from ASEAN TELSOM – ATRC, industry representatives and subject matters experts such as academic, think-tanks, trade associations, and others are expected to attend the Forum.
