She will be moderating a panel at the Singapore International Energy Week conference that will discuss global experiences and best practices from projects to build cross-border interconnected power grids. In the informal roundtable on October 25 in Hanoi\, she would like to discuss how OPIC's direct loans\, investment funds\, loan guarantees\, insurance and other risk mitigation tools can be used to support U.S. investors in Vietnam. \n\n \n\n OPIC has committed to do more in energy in Asia-Pacific in particular under the US-Asia-Pacific Comprehensive Energy Partnership announced by President Obama in November 2012 (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/11/20/fact-sheet-us-asia-pacific-comprehensive-partnership-sustainable-energy). To that end\, OPIC\, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency\, and the State Department have recently announced the creation of the Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Program in Bangkok. OPIC will locate a staff person in Bangkok in order to expand its clean energy portfolio development and catalyze private U.S. investment in the Asia-Pacific region. The Program will facilitate an all-of-government approach to supporting U.S. investors in the region by co-locating government agencies that offer a range of tools\, such as financing\, insurance\, project preparation and technical assistance support while enhancing U.S.-Asia business partnerships.\n\n \n\n The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) is the U.S. Government's development finance institution. Its mission is to support U.S. investors in foreign policy priority markets. \n\n \n\n Alemayehou was nominated as the Executive Vice President of OPIC by President Obama on March 10\, 2010\, and confirmed unanimously by the full Senate.
