SUMMARY:2020 Workshop on ASEAN ASSIST Platform and Private Sector Consultation Mechanisms
DESCRIPTION:The US-ASEAN Business Council\, together with other Joint Business Councils (JBCs)\, recently attended the 4th ARISE Plus Roundtable Discussion on Trade Facilitation on January 21 in Bangkok to discuss current rules and procedures to support private sector engagement in ASEAN\, including the ASEAN Solutions for Investments\, Services and Trade (ASSIST) platform. ASSIST is a non-binding and consultative mechanism that helps expedite solutions for operational cross-border problems related to the implementation of ASEAN economic agreements. Specifically\, ASSIST allows businesses encountering problems exporting goods or services to other ASEAN countries to lodge complaints. \n\n\n\nThe US-ASEAN Business Council would like to invite members to attend a practical workshop with ARISE Plus experts to review the ASSIST platform and discuss its operation and procedures. The workshop will also discuss a soon to be launched ASEAN e-Platform for Consultations with the Private Sector (see attachment). This is a new tool developed by ARISE Plus\, in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat\, that aims to improve the process of consultation between ASEAN and accredited ASEAN Business Advisory Councils on trade facilitation matters. \n\n \n\nDate & Time: 2:30 - 4:30pm on Friday\, February 7\, 2020 (Singapore Time)\n\nVenue: US-ASEAN Business Council\, 100 Beach Road #22-04/05\, Shaw Tower\, Singapore 189702.\n\nSeats are limited.
